Labor Day Weekend-Part 1

Because Mike had a few days off of work for the Labor Day Weekend, we decided to share it with both sides of our family. For the first few days we headed up north to Idaho to visit Mike's family and have a little reunion with his siblings and all the grand kids. We had a family BBQ, a big sleep-over with all the cousins, watched a parade from Great Grandma and Grandpa Herbst's home. The kids collected bags of candy and Austin (at the last mintue) was asked by Mike's Uncle Rod to ride in the parade in a train he built out of barrels. What a creative family! Afterwards, we attended the annual Idaho State Fair. It's quite the experience and nothing much changes from year to year, but one thing I look forward too is "Fair-Food". Nothing healthy is every found, but it's not every day you can eat Tiger Ears (scones the size of a pizza for $3) Funnel Cakes, creamy ice-cream, deep-fried Snickers candy bar, deep-fried cheesecake, deep-fried bananas, deep-fried anything that's edible. It was great! A fun part of the fair was seeing Mike's mom win first runner-up in her entry of making a Wedding cake! She has made quite a few for family, friends and neighbors over the past few years, but decided to see what would happen if she put one in a contest. It's amazing what she can do with fondant. Way to go Grandma! Here are a few picture of the parade.

Fun pictures, Camille. Thanks so much for posting them. I only got 1 pictures of the barrels, too busy cheering them on I guess. Really appreciate the video, and Gr. Grandpa Herbst loves the picture with Megan, who told him that she knows her birthday is the same day as his. Love, Gr. Herbst
