Setting a new goal

Throughout times in my life I have enjoyed writing in my journal and cherished reading those of my ancestors. I know how important it is to write down your thoughts, feelings, events and memories. One of my favorite quotes about this is from Spencer W. Kimball who gave this counsel in General Conference in the spring of 1979. He stated that,

"Every person should keep a journal and every person can keep a journal. It should be an enlightening one and should bring great blessings and happiness to the families. If there is anyone here who isn’t doing so, will you repent today and change..." He goes on later to say that "Those who keep a personal journal are more likely to keep the Lord in remembrance in their daily lives"

Well, the last few years I haven't done so well. So with that said, I have made a new goal to keep a journal. I want to remember all the things we did as a family, the funny things my kids have said and to not forget my favoite memories. To help me with this I decided to blog. A few months ago I didn't know what a "blog"was until my little brother, Matt, set up his blog after he moved to Texas, early this summer, to keep in touch with the family. What a great idea! I thought I would give it a try and I'm surprised I was able to figure it out. After all President Hinckley said,

"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. Some may be significant only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experiences."

Well, to recap, the last few months have brought so much change for our family. Little Megan Camille Herbst became the newest member of our family on March 22, 2007. I love my boys more than anything, but I was thrilled to have a girl. We are so excited to have her here and I love having a little one in our house. Megan is such a great baby and lets me sleep all night since she was 6 1/2 weeks old and is very happy and content little girl. She is always so patient to be feed, bathed, or changed while mom helps out her two older brothers. Nathan and Austin love having her here too and smoother her with kisses, hugs and lullabies. We have been able to do a lot these last four months. We celebrated Austin's 4th Birthday and took his friends to Flip's Gym for a fun party, Nathan played T-Ball with the city league and was on the Tampa Bay Rays team, we went to Lagoon with Ryan and Cody's family, my mom took all the grandkids for a day trip to the Children's Discovery Museum in Salt Lake, many wonderful weekends at the cabin, a trip to Sun Vally with Grandpa Jerry for the Utah Bankers Convention, swimming lessons, and in May we sent Mike off to Alaska for a week of fishing with the "guys". Whew... but more than anything... we love to be together as a family and we always have fun together!
