Meadow Lake

What an adventure we had taking our kids camping last week. We drove almost 6 hours to the middle of nowhere in NE Idaho to a beautiful place called Meadow Lake. All of Mike's family came and we had a great time enjoying the outdoors with fishing, sailing across the lake in the canoes, making s'mores around the campfire and going for a little ride on the four wheelers. This place is special to Mike because when he was a child this is where his family would go camping together. I have heard many stories of Meadow Lake, how beautiful it was and how many fish they would caught in their dad's blue raft. So, it was great to finally come and bring our own little family. It was a little chilly the first few days we were there and really cold at night. The tent just didn't seem to keep in any of the heat and poor Megan being only 4 1/2 months old couldn't sleep because it was so cold. The only thing that helped was at 2am the first night we zipped our two sleeping bags together and put her in between us. We didn't get much sleep, but at least she stayed warm and toasty. Nathan and Austin still keep talking about how fun it was to sleep in the tent with the whole family, hanging out with their cousins and catching all those fish! We brought up my dad's red canoe that he made many years ago and his brother Ryan brought his green canoe. We paddled all around that lake and even tied them together to keep each other company. We made rockets out of film canisters using a little water and Alka-Seltzer and the kids loved seeing them pop up in the air. Also, Shelia set up a fishing pond of prizes for all the kids and they loved the trinkets from the game. All these activities and the four days we spent together made new and lasting memories. We had a great time and I realized that little boys love getting dirty!
