sT. GeOrGe - dAy 1
Every February we are able to go down to St. George for a conference Mike has for work. We love heading down South where it's so much warmer and spending time with the family. This year we decided to visit Snow Canyon and do a little exploring and hiking while we were there. The hikes were easy and beautiful. We saw Jenny's Canyon, found a few bat caves and tried to catch a lizard. They were just too fast!
Another hike or trial we found led us to this wall that is famous for the Pioneer Names. Many years ago as the pioneers past through this would be a common stop and they would often write their names and date with wheel grease on a flat wall that is on the side of the canyon. It was too steep for Megan and Jaron, but Mike and the boys went all the way to the top and want to touch their names and sit on top of the ledge and look out at the valley below. I love that they eat up history and get excited about people of the past. They both wrote down some of the names we saw and came back and searched on the Internet some facts about those pioneers.
Driving in the canyon we saw 2 or 3 sand dunes and the kids begged to go play. We told them if we have time on our way out, we'll stop. The sand was cool, smooth and so soft! They dug, rolled around and climbed up the sand rolling hills. I think it took the rest of the trip to get all the sand out of their hair and clothes, but they had so much fun, I'm glad we said yes!
