4th of July 2009

Wow, what a week-end. I don't think we could of packed anything more in! But, we sure had fun and made some great memories. Last January, we made our family's 2009 goals and one of Nathan's goal was to run the Kaysville 5K on the 4th of July. He watched me run it last year with my sister Emily and he told me then he wanted to do it next year. In January, he made it a goal and the last few weeks, all on his own, he got up early and to run a route in our neighborhood that we mapped out and he paid for his own registration fees and finished the race! Because of my pregnancy, I wasn't able to run it with him, but he recruited my mom, Emily, Stephen and Mike. He was tired and even tripped and fell the last 1/2 mile, but made it and not too bad of time.
After the race, we found a great spot to watch the parade and the kids came home with bags of candy and even necklaces and a tie. A tie? Yes, the Missionary Mall, had a float and threw out ties! It was fun to see my dad's Model A car in the parade with my nieces, it was their turn this year to ride in the parade. Afterwards we had a great BBQ with home-made root-beer and ice-cream. Then of course the fireworks. Jeff always goes all out and we had a cul-de-sac loaded with fireworks and could even see and hear the cities from the front lawn. It was a great day!
