| Our Cocker-Spaniel - Bella |
| Bella and Austin |
This little pup has brought much joy and laughter to our family since Christmas, but as everyone knows with a puppy, there is a lot of work to teach them, potty train and obedience lessons. We felt that it was important for US to learn how to handle and train a dog so we signed up for a puppy training class. It was 6 weeks, each Saturday for about 2 1/2 hours. It was so great! They wanted everyone in our family to attend, even our 2 year old, Jaron. The trainer said it is so important for everyone in the family to learn how to take care of, sign, and give commands. I am so glad we did this, because Bella now knows that WE are in charge.
Bella leaned the basics: sit, lay down, roll-over, come, leave-it, take-it and stay, but it also curbed her from jumping up on the little ones, barking and even potty-trained. We also crate-trained her so we can take her places, road-trips and has a safe, comfortable bed at night that's not in the house. I couldn't believe our trainer was able to train her to ring a bell when she needs to do her business. I thought it would be impossible, but sure enough we ended up transferring the sign from the bell to the door stop. She dongs it whenever she needs to go outside. She is so smart, learned very quickly and we are amazed and grateful with how much love and friendship she has brought to our house!
