Level 2 Hurricane in Davis County?

On December 2-3, 2011, our small little town experienced a huge wind storm. I've grown up with the East Winds in this area and seen trampolines flying across yards and snow drifts that start from the street and walk right up onto our roof, but it really has been 10-12 years since we've had a wind storm like this. Down at our house in West Kaysville, the winds were strong. Garbage cans rolling down the street and windows shaking, but the closer you lived to the mountains, the stronger the winds were. The news report was that it was rated as a Level 2, Hurricane wind storm. It was only supposed to last a few hours, but turned into a few days. School was cancelled because of power outages and windows busted and blown out of the buses that were just sitting parked in the lots. My kids came home with shattered pieces of glass in their pockets.

My parents happened to be out-of-town vising my brother, Matt and his family, in Houston, Texas, and after Mike got home from work, we ran up to their house to see the damage. Shingles were blown off the roof, part of their fence broke, several trees down, but really not much damage. They were the very lucky ones and had the least amount of damage in their cul-de-sac. Roofs blew off of homes, large trees falling into living rooms and the amount of debris was overwhelming. Roads were closed and power off for several days. The National Guard was called in to help, because another wind storm warning was for the next day. Several wards and churches were cancelled on Sunday to help in the major clean up and everyone volunteered man power, trailers, saws, and trucks to load us the mess and haul it away. It was amazing to see everyone rally together and help each other out.

On our way home, we found this on the side of the road

This is a short video clip of our Sunday afternoon with the clean up effort. They requested everyone over the age of 10 to come help and we were assigned to the drop off. Trucks and trailers were lined up over a mile long waiting to unload the debris.
