Thanksgiving 2010

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

There are so many things that I am grateful for and appreciate this holiday of Thanksgiving to take the time to reflect on it. It seems this last year has had many bumps in the road. We have been overwhelmed with both sides of our family, close friends, and neighbors that have been faced with many ... many struggles, job strains and financial or health issues ... you name it! Many days were almost unbearable, frustrating, and hopeless.
But as I look back at what we have been faced with I feel it has changed me forever. It may have been a very challenging year, but I have felt that I have grown the most! I am so grateful for the gospel. The comfort, strength and guidance it can give to us no matter what we are faced with. I am thankful for my ever loving husband who is a rock and is always there for me. Watching him step up and be an example to everyone is strengthening and how many people he has helped and served unselfishly this year. I am thankful for all my children. Each one is a miracle and a blessing that brings great joy everyday in my life. Yes, I am also grateful for the bumps in the road. Because without challenges to strenthen us, to test us and humble us, we would be weak and only a little grateful for the most precious things in life.

Thanksgiving this year was more than getting together with family. It was a wonderful three days of yummy food and treats, great movies (love Tangeled!), playing games together and in the snow, making crafts and don't forget the black Friday shopping! But, reflecting on all that we have, remembering that we are so blessed! That is the best part of it all!
