The next couple of days we spent in Manhattan, NY. We had tickets to visit the Statue of Liberty and really spent a lot of time exploring Ellis Island and all around the Statue. We left from the New Jersey side since it was close to Ryan's house and took the ferry to Ellis Island, then to the statue and finished in Battery Park, downtown, NYC. It was breath taking, amazing and emotional. The few days our kids knew about our trip we tried to prepare them a little for what they were going to see. Since they were out of school and we had a few days to pack, we researched about the different sites and places. After watching a touching movie in the visitor's center about the history of Ellis Island my 9 year old, Nathan, came out with eyes wet, I asked him if he was okay and he said shaking his head, "I had no idea".
We spent the rest of the day exploring downtown New York and saw: Ground Zero, Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, the famous "Bull", Brooklyn Bridge, Trinity Church, Empire State Building, SoHo and ate New York PIZZA (Yummy)! This was our only day of a little rain, some wind and a little cool, but the kids did great (especially Jaron) an we had quite the day!
