One week ago today, Mike and I drove to the hospital to have our 4th baby! Jaron Ryan Herbst was born November 5, 2009 at 7 lbs 13 oz and 19 in. long. It was so much fun to go to the hospital not knowing if it was a boy or a girl. Everyone was so excited with the anticipation. We were prepared either way, since we have some of both and all I had to do was pack a pink and a blue outfit to take them home in.
I got all checked in, picked a room and the nurses started the "pit". Then, 4 hours later, our new little boy was here! This was the longest labor I've ever had, but the easiest delivery. I think my doctor was only there a total of 15 min. I love being enduced! It makes things a lot easier. Mike had arranged work off, babysitters in place for the other kiddos (even school projects/homework completed early) and I even got to shower before! The hospital was not busy at all and they let me stay in the delivery room the whole time I was there. It was so nice, roomy and comfortable! We were really spoiled since there were only 2 babies born that day!
We are so excited to have Jaron here and feel very blessed to have a healthy baby boy. He is a delight and perfect fit for our family. Jaron is named after my older brother who passed away shortly after birth. We thought is was appropriate to honor him and also give him a middle name, Ryan, since he has uncles on both sides with that name that are very close to our family and wonderful Priesthood examples. My older kids are so cute with him and a big help. I love my Heavenly Father plan for us and the opportunity he gave for me to be a mother. For many years, I didn't know if this was going to happen for me here on this earth and now look... I have 4! Life is a miracle and a blessing. I am really trying to remember even in the hard times, to make every moment count.
Getting kids off to school and leaving for the hospital
Getting all set up and ready
I did it!
Calling family to tell them the good news
Because of the H1N1 outbreak, the hospital has new rules about visitors. NO one under the age of 14 is even allowed inside the hospital. So, the kids visited mom in the foyer and then they got to see baby brother through our delivery room window.
Bringing him home was so much fun!
