Daddy Dollars

This summer I was reading in one of my favorite magazines and found an idea I wanted to try. It's called "Daddy Dollars" and by doing their chores, piano and homework each day, they can earn a certain amount of "Dollars" with their dad's picture on it. It has worked wonders! Each morning, they get up and do their morning chores before school by 8:15am there is a "Daddy Dollar" waiting for them on the counter. If they don't get everything done by that time, it disappears. Then after school, the same rule applies, chores, piano, homework and whatever else they have to do like scouts, soccer etc. a "Daddy Dollar" is waiting for them. The greatest part about it is that when they want to redeem them they open the cupboard door to find the "Mommy Mart". A list of things they get to do with DAD that don't cost any real money. Some of the things include, a bike ride $2, 1/2 hour of Wii w/ Dad $3, reading w/Dad $1, movie night $5 and so on. Everything is set up to spend more one on one time with Dad and they can't get enough. Mike loves it too. He is always telling me, I wish I could spend more time with the kids. It has only been about 3 months, but it works like magic. I've never seen them so motivated to get chores done and if they want to earn extra dollars, they can do extra chores for more dollars. What a great idea, I wish I would of read about it sooner!

What a great idea! I'm going to have to remember this for future years when Brielle won't be able to get enough play time with Daddy. Thanks for sharing, Camille!
