Last Monday was Nathan and Austin's first day of school. I can't believe that it's time to start again! This summer has been so much fun and filled with a lot of activities, but all in all, it does feel like it's time. The kids have done "everything" and are getting a little bored and need a more structured routine again. Nathan is now in the 3rd grade and is very excited to learn cursive handwriting this year. His teacher, Mrs. Kawa sent a cute letter about herself and invited us to a little "Open House" the week before school started. It was great to meet her and see the classroom and get a few anxieties out of the way before the first day of school. His teacher is Polynesian and is about the same height as all the kids. She is a sweetheart and we are excited for Nathan to have her.
Austin is starting the 1st grade and will be going all day. When he came home on the first day of school, he said, "That was the longest and funnest day ever!" It will be an adjustment from 1/2 day kindergarten, but it does have it's benefits. He goes to bed so good because he is so exhausted! Austin's teacher is pretty new, she has only been teaching for 3 years, is not married, but is absorbed with these kids. It's her life and she loves it. I'm grateful for all the time and projects she does for their benefit.
Having both boys gone most of the day, this will be a big adjustment for Megan. They both were great helpers with her for me this summer and played so much with her. She has asked several times each day, "Where my brothers?", but I'm glad to have these next few months with some one on one time with her before the baby comes. We are going to have so much fun just us girls!
